In my mind, assuming that the fundamental theory of healing at the same is not so wrong, there is no way this treatment would work! At best, I see it as a placebo, and the strength to believe he did something for them, may certainly make a difference, as the power of the mind is something amazing and largely untapped.
But again I think the same could be achieved by taking sugar water, as long as you believed in it.
